Marva is a graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she dual majored in Religious Studies and Spanish, earning a Bachelor of Liberal Arts. She attended the C.H Mason Seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA,  on an academic/service based scholarship where she earned a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Care/Counseling. During that time, she was elected Vice President of the C. H. Mason Student Fellowship two consecutive years and also received the O. T. Jones Fellowship Award and the Mattie McGlothen Women’s Leadership Award. Marva completed Level I & Level II training  in  Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).  Marva earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, TN.

 

She delivered her first message of the Gospel at the age of 22 years old.  In addition to academic training for ministry, Marva has been on the ministerial staff of Metro Atlanta church, and over the years has work in various areas of ministry including hospitality, worship, and outreach, and has been a gospel radio station program director and on air personality. Marva was a contributor to the Pentecostal Family website.  She also provided administrative and chaperon support to a non-profit youth leadership academy which was founded and lead by her father for over a decade, until his passing in 2014.   Her work has been with individuals and families dealing with many of life's challenges including terminal illness, trauma, homelessness and refugees in the process of resettling in the United States. 

 

Marva C. Williams is at least the fourth generation Pentecostal  in her family. Her paternal great grandmother was an ordained pastor, and her maternal grandmother was an ordained minister.  Her father taught Sunday School and was the Department President of the Young People’s Willing Workers (YPWW) for the East Tennessee Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. Marva’s childhood was heavily influenced by this level of activity working with youth, teens and adults. Service in the community and in the church over a lifetime is what inspires Marva’s work in helping others flourish in life, family, and career.

Marva has also been a licensed cosmetologist for 25+ years.
